Lisa Hines, LCSW

Psychotherapist
IL
Hi there, I'm Lisa! I have over three decades of experience working in mental health and social work. I hold a Doctor of Social Work and a Master's in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Throughout my career, I have worked with youth, adults, and couples struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, relationship issues, and school refusal. I have dedicated myself to learning and translating theories into practice with individuals, families, couples, and groups. In recent years, I have deepened my expertise in trauma, anxiety, couples therapy, and working with the LGBTQIA+ population. My approach to therapy is person-centered and trauma-informed. I utilize evidence-based and eclectic models tailored to each client's needs. I combine EMDR for trauma, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI) when working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can be your authentic self. Through trust and courage, my goal is to walk with you openly and honestly through the therapy process. My journey to mental healthcare began while working in academia, where I noticed an increase in students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and loneliness. This inspired me to transition into private practice to better support individuals on their healing journeys. Goal setting is client-centered; you tell me what you hope to gain from our time together. Our initial session is a chance to get to know each other and determine if we are a good fit as we embark on this journey of self-discovery together.
