Psychotherapist

"Hello, I'm Lisa. I love to camp, read, and spend time with my family and friends. I've been married for 35 years and have two wonderful sons. One of my greatest joys is spending time with my granddaughter. I'm also an animal lover with five dogs and two cats. My journey in mental health began in 2004, driven by a lifelong fascination with the human mind. After my boys were grown, I returned to school and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Hollins University. Initially, I worked as a preschool teacher, but I soon realized my true calling was to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, and other behavioral and personality disorders. In 2014, I earned my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. I completed my internship at LewisGale Behavioral Health in Salem, VA, where I worked for several years. During my time there, I decided to open my own practice closer to home, recognizing the urgent need for counselors in my area. The COVID pandemic necessitated a shift to virtual therapy, which I found to be incredibly effective and fulfilling. Today, I am fully committed to providing virtual therapy, as it allows me to reach and help more people. My main modalities of treatment are mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. With these approaches, I have witnessed significant growth and stability in my clients. I believe we all possess the tools for good mental health; sometimes, we just need someone to help us discover them. From personal experience, I know that having a purpose in life enables us to achieve anything we set our minds to. My passion is to help those dealing with anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems achieve wholeness and satisfaction through counseling.
