Our sessions are for you and are all about you. Only than this brief biography to explain my approaches as a therapist, or to answer your questions about our process, will I talk about myself. I use a strengths-based approach: many people, especially people with histories of addiction, mental illness, or trauma, cannot identify personal strengths! And your strengths are what we must grow and develop, they are the basis for achieving your dreams. I teach techniques for self-soothing, increasing your ability to remain calm, to emotionally regulate and control how you respond, including techniques of mindfulness, breathwork from yoga, and eye movements from vagus nerve exercises. I use a grief recovery approach for processing all types of loss to move forward. Techniques used in treatment of PTSD and OCD can be used to increase the feeling of being grounded, in your body, and to manage triggers to stay in control. I will help you discover if you are your own worst enemy because of how you think, and change the patterns to feel less anxious, less depressed, less down on yourself. As that happens, you can become more engaged, more lighthearted, more focused. You can break free from the past, tame that anxiety, and you can feel well! I look forward to meeting you!
