MacKenzie Lester, LCSW

Psychotherapist
2451 Executive Dr, Ste 205, St Charles, MO
Hi! I'm MacKenzie. I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” I’m here for the real stuff — the ugly cries, the impossible standards, the shame spirals you don’t talk about at school pickup. I work with women who look like they’re crushing it but feel like they’re barely hanging on. I use EMDR, parts work, and a whole lot of honesty to help you stop performing and start feeling like yourself again. And here’s the truth: I get it because I live it, too. This pressure to be everything, hold it all together, never ask for help? It doesn’t vanish overnight. It comes and goes — and the work is learning how to meet yourself with compassion when it shows up again. You don’t have to earn rest. You don’t have to be perfect to be loved. And you definitely don’t have to do this alone.

I work with women who look like they’re crushing it but feel like they’re barely hanging on. What should a new client know about working with you?

When you walk into my office I want you to feel comfortable - emotionally and physically. Grab a hot or cold beverage and a snack if you need one. I've got free Wi-fi if you want to scroll through social media before your session. The couch is comfy and I have a blanket if you're cold or just need some comfort. And I've got plenty of tissues if you need them...trust me, you'll need them. I want you to feel supported while you're on this journey - you're not doing it alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First of all, I am NOT your typical psychotherapist. I'm pretty casual. I wear jeans and the occasional t-shirt to the office. Makeup went out the window when Covid hit. I have a dry sense of humor and sarcasm is my second language. I like to sprinkle "f*ck" into my everyday vocab like little bits of colorful confetti. Feel free to add to the fun. Or not, your choice. I believe that life is short and no one has time for beating around the bush. Therefore, I don’t sugar coat things, but I also won't force you to take steps you're not ready for. I love working with people who want to do the work. The people I work best with prioritize their sessions. You block out your session time on your calendar so nothing gets in the way of our time together (I realize some things can't be avoided). My ideal clients understand that their session does not come with a crystal ball or things getting better magically overnight. Even when the work is hard, you're committed to doing it because you know that things have to change. Change takes time. I can't do the work for you, but I will walk beside you every step of the way. This work is important. YOU are important.

We are committed to providing a supportive and personalized therapeutic experience. In our office, our goal is to help you find your "middle path" to wellness, offering a peaceful space to explore and heal. We certainly don’t want finances to be more of a burden to you. When deciding between insurance and private pay, consider the following: Financial Situation: Assess your budget and determine what you can afford without compromising your financial stability. Therapeutic Needs: Reflect on the importance of therapist compatibility and the ability to work alongside your therapist to determine what your therapeutic needs are, not rely on a stranger to make that determination based on an algorithm. Privacy Concerns: Decide how much you value confidentiality and whether you're comfortable with insurance companies accessing your therapy records and that information being part of your lifetime record. At Middle Path Wellness Collective, we strive to accommodate your preferences and needs, ensuring that your path to wellness is both accessible and effective.
