Getting to know Madeleine English

I have 10 years of experience as a mental health counselor and hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Yeshiva University. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, and challenging life transitions. I am an LGBTQIA-affirming and nonjudgmental provider. I believe in meeting my clients where they're at and working collaboratively to build coping skills and resiliency. What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe in working collaboratively with my clients and meeting them where they are at. It's important that clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings with me so I strive to create a welcoming and warm atmosphere. I utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing and Rogerian techniques. I tailor my approach to each individual that I work with and encourage clients to tell me about what works best for them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At our first session, we will talk about your reasons for seeking therapy and explore any current symptoms, challenges and issues that you are facing. Working together, we will establish goals to work towards. In subsequent sessions, we will review how you are feeling, practice coping skills and examine your progress in working towards your goals.
