Getting to know Madison Lockamy

I am an experienced, compassionate therapist specializing in assisting adolescents and adults in their struggles with stressors like life transitions, day-to-day issues, anxiety, relationship problems, and more. We work through these challenges in a safe, therapeutic setting where you are empowered to take charge of your mental health and embark upon the road to lasting wellness. I'm passionate about working with adolescents and young adults, and hold a special place in my heart for athletes, as this is how my counseling journey began. In fact, my path into therapeutic care began with my own counseling experience back in college. Having sought out therapy to address sports performance anxiety I was experiencing, I found the encounter to be life-affirming. I left my therapist’s office knowing this was what I wanted to do with my own career, and haven't looked back since. This eye-opening therapeutic experience showed me just how empowering therapy can be, which only deepened my dedication to building strong therapeutic relationships. Now, I continue to bring genuine and authentic energy to each session.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In my practice, I take an authentic, supportive, and optimistic approach that focuses on the importance of active listening and validation in a therapeutic setting. This allows me to prioritize building a strong therapeutic alliance within an affirming environment. Working together, we utilize a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy to guide you as you face the obstacles in your path and develop the skills to overcome them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in taking an unstructured approach to care. This helps to deepen our therapeutic relationship so you feel like a valued individual and not just an item on a checklist. More, I tailor my approach to your unique needs, ensuring you are better able to not only identify your specific mental health goals, but achieve them as well. I look forward to the opportunity to create this lasting relationship with you.
