Psychotherapist
12176 S 1000 E Ste 12, Salt Lake, UT
I have more than 20 years of experience working with children and families in the human services/social service/therapeutic field. I started out my career as a social worker back in 2000. I went on and completed my master's degree in Counseling Psychology and have worked as a therapist with adults, children and families in a variety of settings since then. I have a kind, gentle, and non-judgmental approach. I feel it is essential that people feel at ease in the therapeutic environment. I have worked with many individuals struggling with many different challenges, but I seem to gravitate most to working with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, faith crisis, and LGBTQ issues. I am always open to learning and improving my therapy skills in any way I can. I love spending time with my wife of 28 years, three daughters, and of course our dog Pumpkin. We enjoy movies, games, enjoying nature, singing, laughing and just being together. Specialties: Grief – Depression – Anxiety – Trauma - LGBTQ - Life Changes - Faith Crisis. I work with adults, teens, and couples. Approaches to Therapy: I use a variety of approaches in therapy to meet the individual needs of my clients. I feel it is important to meet you where you are. These approaches include DBT, CBT, TF- CBT, Solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Grief work techniques. Education and Training: I received my bachelor’s degree from Southern Utah University in Psychology in 2000. I continued my education and received a master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University in 2008. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Utah. I am specialty trained in DBT, CF-CBT, and Grief.
