Getting to know Matthew Gallo

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* With over a decade of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, I specialize in supporting clients transitioning from higher levels of care or navigating intense emotional and psychological challenges. I work most often with teens and adults facing depression, anxiety, personality disorders (BPD, Bipolar I/II), and existential stress. My approach blends cognitive, dialectical, and psychodynamic therapies with a philosophical, sometimes spiritual, perspective. When appropriate, I explore Jungian concepts like shadow work and individuation to help clients find empowerment, meaning, and healing. I strive to create a space where clients feel grounded, respected, and safe to be fully themselves. I'm passionate about men's mental health and identity work, and I proudly welcome clients across the gender and LGBTQ spectrum. I bring warmth, depth, and a sense of humor to my work, and I value a flexible, collaborative relationship in therapy. If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, you don't have to figure it out alone. Therapy can be a place to reconnect with your purpose and uncover new ways of living with clarity and intention. Whether you're ready to dive in or just testing the waters, I'll meet you where you are-with compassion, curiosity, and encouragement. As endorsed by Andrew Hanley on Psychology Today: "Matthew is generous of spirit and has a keen understanding of how to guide clients out of distress and toward their goals. He creates a warm and positive environment that encourages drawing on both vulnerability and inner strength." Matthew Gallo has a Master’s in Counseling from Mercy University. Matthew is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor LMHC # 017177 at Cerebral.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger management, low-self esteem, ADHD, relational difficulties and interpersonal communication issues. I currently work in intensive inpatient and outpatient settings, working populations struggling with self-harm, suicidal ideation, PTSD, and severe depression. I find that a multimodal approach to therapy is an effective way to identify strengths and foster growth within clients.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Working with me means having a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and supported. Opening up can be tough , but you don’t have to face your struggles alone. I take a down-to-earth approach, helping you navigate life’s challenges with strength and clarity. Our ultimate goal is empowerment, helping you build resilience and confidence while overcoming whatever obstacles holding you back. Healing is a journey—we’ll take it at your pace, together. If you’re ready for change, I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way. Let’s get started. I leave this feedback because I think this was unexcepted. Never seen such a poor communication and negligence. I scheduled the appointment thru Zocdoc, then there was an email from the therapist saying that he is not able to see me at that time and we have to reschedule, that’s what we did. On the day of the rescheduled session (two weeks after) I am waiting to start my online session for 40min. Received an email from the therapist in the evening saying that they cannot take my insurance. So, it took them 3 weeks to figure this out. Unprofessional, no wonder why people say that there are no good therapists because they just simply don’t care.

I had an excellent experience during my therapy session with Matthew. He is always very professional while still being genuinely relatable, which made it easy to open up and feel comfortable. He listened carefully, offered thoughtful guidance, and helped me see things from a clearer perspective. I left the appointment feeling understood and supported, and with tools I can use moving forward. I’d highly recommend working with him.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about my therapist Dr. Matthew Gallo!!! From the very first session, I felt supported and understood. He has great insights and the ability to listen without judgment. His advice has helped me to set healthy boundaries and make great improvements in my life and my mental health. What sets him apart is how validating he has been. He has helped me make sense of my life struggles and helped me to move forward with clarity and compassion. My sessions have never felt rushed, and I always leave feeling lighter, more confident, validated and better equipped to handle whatever I’m facing. His approach is warm and super honest, while also empathetic. He is practical and empowering!!! I’ve grown so much in my time working with him and I’m beyond grateful for the tools, perspective, and healing words!! I have already recommended him to several people that I know would benefit from his help, support and guidance!!!
    I'm very satisfied, thank you.
