Getting to know Megan Walsh

I've done a lot of learning-and unlearning-around the narratives that shape one's identity. This ongoing process has given me a deeper appreciation for how personal and complex our experiences can be, especially when it comes to how we see ourselves and move through the world. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my therapeutic work. In my practice, I work extensively with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and love to blend evidence-based interventions like CBT, MI, and ACT alongside humor, rapport-building, and a client-centered, humanistic approach. I also incorporate somatic frameworks such as Mindfulness and Somatic Experiencing. I take time to understand what's important to you-your values, your goals, and your lived experiences-and use that to guide a treatment plan that supports meaningful progress. Whether you're working through anxiety, identity-related stress, life transitions, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, my goal is to help you build insight, find clarity, and move forward in ways that feel aligned and sustainable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a client-led, comfortable, and empowering working relationship through trauma-informed care and an eclectic lens of therapeutic approaches. As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, I am passionate about addressing the unique challenges of intersectionality and advocating for those who are underserved or misunderstood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In this safe, non-judgmental space I invite you to explore your thoughts and feelings, develop individualized coping strategies, and work towards goals that will lead you to a more fulfilling future. Together, we can transform your aspirations into reality.
