Melanie Eisner, LCSW - C

Psychotherapist
MD
We don't have many places in our lives to do what we can do in therapy-question and learn about ourselves, and develop more skillful ways to be with our emotions and experiences. I view therapy as a safe container to explore and process emotions-and, importantly, to do so in the presence of a trusted person when engaging in this sometimes difficult work. My work fuses together my gentle, compassionate nature with a depth of intellectual understanding about people, fueled by genuine curiosity about you and how you've come to be who you are. I hold a Master's in Social Work and a degree in Social Sciences from The University of Chicago, as well as a Bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, which inform and enrich my approach to therapy.

Getting to know Melanie Eisner

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is gentle and full of presence. I listen in depth and respond to you with care, offering observations, thoughts, and interventions. I may pause you to check in with the emotions or the body. I want to help you regain awareness of how your thoughts, body, and emotions are bound up together and the relationships between them. My work is infused with my contemplative practices -- meditation and mindfulness. One of the integral approaches I use with clients is self-compassion. I am invested in practicing therapy from a feminist, anti-racist lens. The field of therapy is changing, and making space for awareness of the systems we are embedded in, outside of our inner worlds. Therefore to our exploration of your internal self and relationships, I add an understanding of how we have internalized messages from the systems around us -- patriarchy, racism, and more.
