Getting to know Melissa Buchanan

I have been in private practice for over a decade, working with adults, couples, adolescents, and their families. I have offered treatment to those struggling with substance use disorders, specifically women, with a focus on "gray area drinking" and other women's issues, including but not limited to the challenges associated with the aging process, "empty nest," grief, relationship issues, complex trauma, and infertility. I am EMDR trained and practiced. I work with adult women and those in mid-life experiencing increased mental health challenges, providing EMDR treatment while educating and supporting you to draw from personal strengths and working with you to identify and attain future goals. I hold a Master's in Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide talk therapy, with an option of EMDR Treatment. You can expect your first few visits to be a process of the beginning of establishing a rapport and then, at. your pace, moving into a person centered treatment approach.
