Getting to know Melissa Gritz

Now accepting new clients at Melissa Gritz Mental Health in Oregon. With a passion for helping clients achieve authentic growth and wellness, and over 30 years of experience in human services, my approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, compassion, and collaboration. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California and an MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University, where I also earned a Certificate in Infant and Toddler Mental Health. Please note that I do not provide couples therapy, group family therapy, or therapy for youth. My areas of focus are anxiety, depression, BPD, gender, sexuality, grief and loss, parenting, and transitions in life, with an approach that is sex positive, gender affirming, neuro inclusive, and holistic. I believe that our lived experiences, life connections, and environments often impact how we move through the world in both challenging and supportive ways, and that we can learn more about ourselves through them. I use evidence based techniques to support my clients on their journey. Together we can explore your goals and work toward achieving them. Let’s take the first steps on the path to thriving.

She was very wonderful and listened to me well, in the very first session gave me some tools to use in the future and asked how she can help with what was bothering me. Would definitely recommend, wish I could stay in her care longer but alas I am moving states soon!

Melissa was phenomenal in helping me think critically about things, as well as in explaining things in ways I'd never heard before so that I understood it better. She helped me get to a very a healthy point with my issue.
I would strongly recommend Melissa. Melissa provided exceptional care, support and guideance. I am extremely grateful for her time, understanding, and honest insights. A very positive experience.
I am someone who has been in therapy for a long time, but needed to make a switch to a new therapist and I'm so happy I found Melissa. We clicked from the first moment and she makes you feel extremely comfortable while doing something very vulnerable. She holds me accountable and I am thankful I found her. Highly recommend.
