Getting to know Melissa Wergland

Hello! I'm a licensed Therapist with 7 years of experience providing counseling to individuals and couples seeking to improve their mental health. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from New York University, which has equipped me with the skills to support a wide range of clients. At the core of my practice is the belief that all individuals are capable of recovery and can regain fulfilling, wholesome lives. I provide warmth and care within a trusting relationship that fosters the healing and growth necessary for meaningful change. With empathy, compassion, and support, I guide clients on their journey to discovering new life meaning. Throughout my clinical experience, I have helped clients overcome symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I also have experience assisting those with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder to live more satisfying lives. Additionally, I support clients who want to develop better stress management skills to enhance their overall mental health, become their best selves, and strengthen their relationships. I ensure a safe, non-judgmental space to work through past traumas and overcome barriers. I am fully committed to offering my best professional practices to help you. Together, we will collaborate to set goals for your treatment, and I will be there as a guide throughout this process of growth. You can count on my empathetic, person-centered approach in every conversation we share. Taking the first step to improve your mental health takes strength, and I am honored to be part of this important journey. Life can be meaningful again, happiness can be found, and relationships can be restored. I believe that regardless of what you are experiencing, there is always a way to overcome challenges and regain stability and peace. Depression and anxiety can be reduced and even eliminated. I'm here to guide you through this toward the light at the end of the tunnel. I look forward to meeting you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

To start off, we will get to know each other. I will help you identify the goals you would like to achieve in therapy. In my practice I do talk therapy, CBT, and Psychodynamic models. I will help you process and work through past traumas and work towards healing. I will help you identify any current patterns you may have formed due to past relationships or experiences you had in life, and help to identify if any patterns need to be broken to create new healthy ones. I will help you learn tools that you can use for stress management, to reduce anxiety and depression, or just to gain more self awareness to grow and be your best self.

I am writing to let you know that Melissa Wergland is a phenomenal therapist! She always makes me feel comfortable, valid in my feelings, and gives good advice. It feels like talking to a friend and like she would never judge me. She is a sweetheart and always remains flexible and patient with rescheduling appointments.
I have been seeing Melissa for over a year now and she is one of the most incredible therapists I have ever worked with. I have worked with a few other therapists in the past, but Melissa has been able to reach the roots of my issues and help me overcome many of my anxieties, fears, and insecurities. I went through something very traumatic in the past year and were it not for speaking with Melissa and utilizing the strategies that she taught me, I would not be here today. Our sessions and the tools that she taught me have helped me become the most confident and secure version of myself, which I never thought was possible. I am truly grateful for our sessions and her continued guidance.
I have been having therapy appointments with Melissa Wergland for two and half years. She has helped me so much and I could not be more happy with her services. Since working with her I have been able to get out of depression, not let anxious thoughts consume me anymore and strengthen my interpersonal skills with my family, friends and colleagues. Thank you, Melissa!
