Therapy is more than talking about problems – it’s about healing, growth, and finding freedom from the patterns that keep you stuck. With over 26 years of experience, I specialize in helping individuals overcome eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, and sexual addictions, using compassionate, evidence-based strategies to create real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative and connection-focused. I believe that healing happens through understanding yourself deeply and building the tools you need to move forward with confidence. Whether you’re struggling with shame cycles around food, feeling trapped by anxiety, or navigating complex addictions, I provide a safe, supportive space where you’ll feel heard, empowered, and capable of creating a fulfilling life. I earned my master’s degree in social work from Brigham Young University, but it’s my decades of working alongside clients that have shaped my perspective: every person’s story is different, and meaningful change begins when you’re met with compassion and insight exactly where you are. Outside of therapy, I live what I encourage in others – finding joy, balance, and meaningful connections. I grew up in Salt Lake City before moving to Las Vegas as a teenager, and I love scuba diving, mountain biking, and creating miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons on my 3D printer. To me, therapy is like life itself: discovering new possibilities, building resilience, and creating a future that feels authentic to who you are. I am licensed in Utah, Virginia, and Idaho.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A new client should know that I am active, engaged, and direct in the therapy room. I am not the kind of therapist who simply sits back, nods, and lets you stay stuck in the same patterns. I care about understanding what is happening in your life, but I also care about helping you move toward something better. My work is centered on connection. Many of the problems people bring to therapy are connected to disconnection from themselves, from others, from their values, from their spirituality, or from the people they love. I want to help you understand where connection has been damaged, avoided, lost, or replaced with coping patterns that are no longer working. I will ask questions like: What do YOU want? What is within your control? What keeps repeating? What are you doing that helps, and what are you doing that keeps the problem going? I am not here to judge you or make decisions for you. I am here to help you think more clearly, take ownership of your choices, and learn how to move forward. Clients should expect compassion, honesty, humor, and accountability. I will support you, but I will also challenge you when I think it will help. My goal is not to fix your life for you. My goal is to help you understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, and develop the tools to sort things out in a healthier, more connected way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process starts with understanding what brings you to therapy and what you want to be different. I want to know what is happening, but I also want to understand what keeps repeating, what you have already tried, and where you feel stuck. Early in therapy, I focus on helping you clarify the goal. What do you want? What are you hoping will change? What would tell us that therapy is actually helping? From there, we look at the patterns, relationships, choices, beliefs, and coping strategies that may be contributing to the problem. My approach is active and collaborative. I am not here to judge you, take sides, or fix your life for you. I am here to help you think more clearly, recognize what is within your control, and develop the skills to work through things in a healthier way. A lot of my work focuses on connection: connection with yourself, with the people you love, with your values, and, when it fits for the client, with spirituality or a deeper sense of purpose. When those connections are strained or blocked, people often get stuck in pain, shame, avoidance, resentment, or conflict. As therapy continues, we work on turning insight into action. That may mean learning how to communicate differently, take more responsibility for your choices, set healthier expectations, repair trust, tolerate discomfort, or approach old problems in a new way. My goal is to help you understand yourself better and make meaningful changes that improve your life and relationships.
