Getting to know Michael Jenkins

Hello, I'm Mike. Originally from Tennessee, I've spent my career serving in the US Army, the VA, and various therapy centers. Now, I am fully retired except for my private practice online, where I continue to help individuals navigate their mental health journeys. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree, specializing in anxiety, grief and bereavement, intimate and romantic relationships, life transitions, military and veteran support, PTSD, stress, and trauma. I also offer SonderMind Video Telehealth sessions for your convenience. Throughout my career, I've witnessed firsthand the devastating effects trauma can have on individuals and their families. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful tool to address trauma and bring relief. Trauma can manifest in many forms, from 'Big T' trauma, such as disturbing and violent events, to 'Little t' trauma, which includes long-term childhood experiences that leave lasting emotional scars. These experiences can lead to constant feelings of being unwanted, unloved, and not valued, often resulting in various mental health issues later in life. I believe that the devastation of trauma does not have to be permanent. With the right support and therapeutic approach, the symptoms and disturbing effects of trauma can be significantly lessened. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your experiences and work towards healing. On a personal note, I am married and have two grown children. These relationships have taught me the importance of connection and understanding in our lives. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your journey to better mental health.
