“Michelle immediately made me feel comfortable and able to open up. I have had some less than ideal experiences with counseling and therapy in the past, so I was hesitant to restart. But I feel much better about the process from just the initial intake session and look forward to working with them more. I appreciated their clear explanation of the process and their treatment methods.”

Getting to know Michelle Novitsky

Welcome to your therapy journey, or welcome back!

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a queer therapist with her Master's from Brooklyn College, Michelle treats anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, and low self-esteem. She works with diverse adults like college students, neurodiverse individuals, and BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. At this time, she is particularly interested in working with anyone who identifies as asexual. Michelle became a counselor to empower others, and outside of therapy, Michelle is an artist, social justice advocate, and animal lover.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Ever wonder "why is this happening now?", or "how does my past connect to today?" Michelle uses psychodynamic therapy to help you look back and understand your present, revealing how past and unconscious experiences shape current patterns. Michelle also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Instead of fighting your mental health by constantly thinking "how do I stop this?", ACT teaches you to work with what you're experiencing through acceptance, self-compassion, and patience. It can be challenging but deeply rewarding.

Michelle is amazing, I finally was able to learn how to manage my anxiety and stress thanks to her, she is very welcoming and I feel very comfortable with her as my therapist. Really recommend!!!
I meet with Michelle weekly, and our time has become what I look forward to every week. Michelle is absolutely exceptional at what she does! Not only does she help me process and understand my thoughts and emotions, but also provides clear insight into clinical psychology theories and practices that I can apply to my everyday life.
Michelle creates such a safe and respectful space in which to explore anything I need to discuss each week, whether a current or recurring issue, or a current event in the world. She shares therapeutic tools, suggests language that is especially compassionate to the self, and brings awareness and care which has helped me navigate and establish healing practices for grief/loss and anxiety. Very grateful.
I was a previous client of Michelle's. Wow, incredible therapist to say the least. She really knows how to help me connect the dots about certain events in my life, events that I didn't know were related to one another. So I definitely recommend her if you're looking for a therapist.
I hesitate to write this review because I think that she was not the right fit for me, but believe she may be the right fit for others. She is quite young and I struggled to see how someone so young would be able to guide me through CBT, especially without a formal psychiatric MD/PsyD/PhD education. Even with the aforementioned training, I would be hesitant to go to a therapist in her early 20s which is not something I knew about myself prior to the appointment. I think her level of training is sort of the "midlevel" of therapy.

My first appointment with Michelle was great! she was very understanding of my circumstance and why I’m starting therapy. I would recommend her as she seems to give a lot of feedback and advice that is welcoming.

I had the privilege of working alongside this therapist, and I can confidently say that their expertise and compassion are exceptional. They are not only a skilled professional but also a caring colleague who goes above and beyond to provide a safe and inclusive space for their clients, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Highly recommend!
Michelle is one of the most warm and knowledgable therapist. Michelle explained the process clearly and always made sure to meet where I am. Michelle listens to my problem and provided me with the best service she can offer.
Michelle is an empathetic counselor. I felt that she validated my feelings. She has good insight around the things going on in my life.
Michelle is GREAT! I see her for my depression and I truly feel like she understands what I'm going through- awesome therapist.
Loved Michelle, they were very culturally competen. When I started seeing Michelle, I felt listened to and understood. Really admirable therapist!
This was my second time starting therapy because the last therapist just wasn't a good fit for me. However, I quickly warmed up to Michelle and found myself at ease! I feel like she really hears my concerns and treats them very seriously. Would recommend!
