“Just had my first session with Mira and I adored it. Even longterm with my prior experience in therapy I didn’t feel as comfortable speaking as freely as I already have. I truly felt heard and seen. I look forward to my next appointment!”

Getting to know Mira Mabed

If you are reading this, you may be carrying more than you let on. Maybe you have been pushing through for a while, telling yourself it is not that bad, or that you should be able to handle it on your own. You do not have to keep doing it alone. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can finally exhale. A space where you are heard, not judged, and where we work together on what is actually weighing on you. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, low mood, stress at work, a relationship that keeps hitting the same wall, or something you cannot quite name yet, my job is to understand what is keeping it stuck and help you move forward. I often draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person-centered therapy. But I choose the approach, including ones not listed here, based on what you come in with. Racing, negative thoughts may call for practical skills to challenge and reshape them. Feeling stuck or at war with your own emotions may call for learning to make room for them while you move toward what matters. Sometimes the first thing that helps is simply being heard. You get what fits you, not a one-size-fits-all method. My work is collaborative and structured. You help shape the plan, you always know what comes next, and we check progress along the way. If something is not working, we change it. I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, life transitions, burnout, relationship struggles, and stress that has started to take over. Sessions are available in English or Arabic. You do not need to have it all figured out before you reach out. Starting is the hardest part, and I would be glad to take the next step with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

***DISCLAIMER*** We do not accept Medicaid Insurances. Clients are required to upload photos of their insurance card, front and back, when booking a session through Zocdoc. It is necessary to complete the full intake paperwork prior to their first scheduled session as well. *************************************************************

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting therapy is a big step. My process is designed so you know what to expect from the first session on. Intake. We talk about what brought you in, what is happening now, and what you want to be different. If you cannot put it into words yet, that is okay. We will figure it out together. Understanding the pattern. We look at your history, relationships, habits, and the situations that set things off, so we understand what is actually keeping the problem going, not just the symptoms on the surface. A plan built with you. Together we set clear goals, such as less anxiety, better mood, healthier boundaries, more confidence, or better ways to handle stress. You help build the plan rather than just receive it. Matching the method to the problem. I often draw from CBT, ACT, and person-centered therapy, but I choose the approach, including ones not listed here, based on what you bring in. If unhelpful thoughts drive the pattern, we work on shifting them. If you are stuck fighting painful feelings, we work on making room for them and moving forward anyway. If you need space to be heard first, we start there. The method serves you, not the other way around. Tracking progress. We check in regularly on whether things are actually changing. If something is not moving, we adjust the plan instead of waiting and hoping. Building skills for life. Between sessions, you practice tools you can use in real situations, so progress carries over into your week, not just the hour we spend together. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling clearer, steadier, and more confident handling whatever comes next.
