“Misty was an absolute God-send when I came to her at 18 years old. She really helped me get through a lot of childhood issues and trauma I had never actually dealt with. Her guidance and counseling gave me a new look on life. At the time, I really wasn’t going any where and after talking things out with her, she helped me get a new perspective on life and how to work through the issues of my past and deal with them. She helped me to also accept my feelings toward the individuals that wronged me in my past and was truly understanding of how I felt and didn’t make me feel bad about those feelings. Without Misty’s help, I’d probably not be where I am today: a career in the Air Force, a master’s degree, a homeowner at 23 years old. None of that would be possible without the skills learned and fostered through Misty’s help! If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would!”

Sometimes people come to therapy because they are anxious, overwhelmed, grieving, or emotionally exhausted. Other times, they come because life keeps repeating the same painful patterns—and they are finally ready for something deeper.
Misty Lawrence helps clients do that deeper work!
As a Licensed Master Social Worker in Louisiana and Maryland with more than a decade of experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, counseling, community mental health, and therapeutic support, Misty has worked alongside individuals rebuilding after trauma, navigating life transitions, healing from loss, and moving beyond survival mode.
Her work is especially powerful for clients who feel stuck in cycles of self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, people-pleasing, unhealthy relationships, grief, anxiety, depression, self-sabotaging behaviors, or unresolved trauma.
What makes Misty different is that she understands healing from both sides of the room. Her approach is informed not only by clinical training, but also by lived experience with trauma and loss. She understands that healing is rarely linear, that growth can feel uncomfortable, and that lasting change often requires more than learning coping skills.
Misty integrates CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness practices, nature-informed healing, personality exploration, and strengths-based interventions to help clients understand the patterns beneath the pain and build a life that feels more intentional, aligned, and emotionally free.
She works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, mood instability, grief and loss, relationship challenges, identity concerns, emotional dysregulation, substance use issues, life transitions, and rebuilding self-worth.
Clients often describe her as direct, compassionate, insightful, and deeply authentic. She creates a space where people feel safe enough to be honest—and supported enough to change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our motto at TMG is "We'll meet you here!" Our goal at TMG is to co-create a strong therapeutic relationship, which we believe is foundational to the success of our clients' treatment. Therefore, building a warm, supportive, and safe therapeutic environment requires designing treatment plans that are unique and specific to the individual client's needs. We engage in talk therapy in addition to utilizing an integrative approach of modalities with the client's specific treatment in mind.

Misty came two times a week to talk to my son. When she first came my son was in a bad place. After she came a couple of times he started getting better. After a while he started coming out his room, started making friends and got in a band at school and his grades was getting better. Misty really cares about her patients

I’m very grateful for the support and guidance I received from Misty. She created a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where I felt truly heard and understood. Her insight, patience, and encouragement helped me through some very difficult times and gave me tools that continue to help me in everyday life.
