Psychotherapist
MD
Hi, I’m Monica Douglas — a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a deep passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their inner strength. Since 2020, I’ve been proudly providing mental health services through the Empowerment Center in Beltsville, MD, where I support individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. Before entering the counseling field, I spent many years working in the legal profession. In 2017, I felt a strong calling to make a meaningful change — one that aligned more closely with my desire to support others in a deeper, more personal way. That decision led me to the world of mental health, and I haven’t looked back since. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies with a Minor in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland University College, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. In our work together, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. Counseling isn’t just about addressing problems — it’s about discovering who you truly are, uncovering inner resilience, and building a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling. I've worked with clients from many walks of life and with varied needs. My areas of expertise are in Behavior Modification, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, PTSD and Grief. I use a Cognitive Behavioral and Humanistic approach to help my clients bring out the best in themselves. You’ll play an active role in the process, from shaping your treatment plan to engaging in meaningful exercises that support your growth. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just in need of someone to walk alongside you, I’m here to help you become the best version of yourself. We all need support sometimes — and I’m honored to be part of that journey with you.
