*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said, 'I love myself'' Life can move so quickly, making it difficult to make time for self-love and self-compassion. But as a friend once told me, working on yourself is the most important job you'll ever do-and it's one I want to help you pay attention to. I'm a proud Jamaican immigrant who moved to central New York at the tender age of 8. My philosophy in life and therapy is deeply influenced by the principle of 'Ubuntu,' a philosophy found in many African countries that is summed up by the phrase 'I am because you are.' This reminds me that as humans, we are intrinsically social creatures. We need each other for support, and it's okay to seek it out when life gets heavy. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches-play therapy, Gestalt psychology, CBT, and more-but my secret sauce' Existentialism and mindfulness, influenced by my love for music. You'll also find that humor is a regular guest in our sessions, diffusing tension and allowing for a more relaxed, authentic conversation. My priority is to help you become more self-actualized. Let's vibe together as we get you to a place where you value yourself again. As endorsed by Matt Cuellas on Psychology Today: "Moya is a committed and caring therapist. They are able to strongly utilize a collaborative approach in their work with clients."

What should a new client know about working with you?

I find myself drawn to working with people who struggle with work-life balance, poor time management skills, and those living with bipolar disorder and ADHD. I excel in making others realize that they have something special to offer, so that is my main goal with each of my clients. By working together to set and work towards your goals, we will be able to create healthy ways of navigating life's challenges and help you discover your hidden potential!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said, “I love myself!?” Life can move so quickly, making it difficult to exude self-love and self-compassion, but it doesn’t have to be. My yoga friend once told me that working on yourself is the most important job you will ever do, so it’s important to remain persistent. I will remind you that you’re worthy of love, and that your feelings are valid. This is an important first step in taking back control in your life because no one wants to go through life feeling unaccomplished and unworthy.
