Getting to know Dr. Nathaniel Uko-Ima

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Noble Therapy NY, providing therapy for individuals, couples, and families. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, family conflict, life transitions, and challenges with emotional well-being. With over 21 years of experience in social services, I provide a warm, supportive, and individualized approach. I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and relationship patterns while developing practical skills for coping, communication, self-esteem, and personal growth. I also offer Christian counseling for clients who want to incorporate their faith into therapy, integrating evidence-based psychotherapy with Scripture and prayer according to their preferences. I hold an MA and practice under a Limited Permit in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also hold a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring a calm, grounded presence into each session, creating a space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported. Therapy is a place where you don’t have to navigate challenges alone; we work together to build insight, clarity, and meaningful progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During a typical session, we will discuss what is currently affecting your emotional well-being, relationships, or daily life. In our first session, I will take time to understand your concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy. Together, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Ongoing sessions may involve exploring thought patterns, emotions, past experiences, and relationship dynamics. I may also introduce practical strategies to help you manage anxiety and stress, improve communication, regulate emotions, and develop healthier coping skills. Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and paced according to your comfort level. My goal is to help you gain insight, feel more empowered, and make meaningful progress toward lasting change.
