Psychotherapist
NY
I’m Nayfitd Simons, a bilingual licensed clinical social worker based in New York. I specialize in supporting children, adolescents, and adults facing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship stress. My work is grounded in empathy, cultural humility, and evidence-based treatment. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a supervisor at the award-winning WJCS Trager Lemp Center for Trauma and Resilience, where I train therapists in proven trauma-focused modalities including CBT, CPT, DBT, TF-CBT, and TGCTA. As someone who has faced my own challenges, I deeply understand how overwhelming life can feel. I also know how powerful the healing process can be. My goal is to offer a safe, supportive space where you feel seen and empowered to move forward at your own pace. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone. Hablo español.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients describe my approach as warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I work from a trauma-informed lens, meaning I prioritize your sense of safety and choice throughout the therapy process. I meet clients where they are and adapt our work to fit their needs, using tools backed by research and clinical experience. My sessions are conversational and goal-oriented, with space to explore what matters most to you. Whether you're navigating anxiety, past trauma, or a life transition, we’ll work together to understand your experience and find practical strategies for healing and growth. You don’t need to have everything figured out: just a willingness to start. I also understand that reaching out can feel like a big step. I hold space for that. You deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with building a strong, trusting relationship. In your first few sessions, I’ll get to know you, your history, and your goals. I’ll ask questions at your pace and help you reflect on the patterns and strengths that have shaped your experience. From there, we’ll develop a plan that aligns with what you want to work on (whether it’s managing anxiety, processing trauma, improving relationships, or simply feeling more grounded). I use evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, CPT, and TF-CBT, tailoring them to your specific needs and values. Sessions are structured yet flexible. I may offer coping tools, guided reflections, or trauma-processing techniques depending on where you are. My role is to walk alongside you (not to rush your process) and to support it with compassion, skill, and honesty. Therapy can be challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. I’m here when you’re ready
