What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with us is meant to feel supportive, collaborative, and paced to your needs. Therapy at & Kin is not about fixing you it’s about creating space to understand what you’re carrying and how it’s affecting you and your relationships. Our style is relational, culturally responsive, and trauma aware. We take time to get to know you as a whole person, honoring your background, values, and lived experiences. Sessions are conversational and guided, not rushed or rigid, and we work together to identify goals that feel meaningful to you. You can expect a calm, welcoming environment where curiosity is valued over judgment and progress is defined by growth, not perfection. We may offer reflections, tools, and gentle challenges, but always with care and consent. You are encouraged to show up as you are—there is no “right” way to do therapy here. Above all, we believe healing happens in connection. Our goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and less alone as you move forward

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with an initial consultation or first session focused on getting to know you. This is a time to share what brings you to therapy, ask questions, and decide together if our approach feels like a good fit. We move at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful of your needs. In the early sessions, we collaborate to understand your goals, relationships, strengths, and challenges. We take time to explore patterns, life experiences, and the cultural or relational contexts that shape your story. From there, we create a flexible plan that supports meaningful and sustainable change. Ongoing sessions are conversational, reflective, and supportive. We may explore emotions, practice new ways of communicating, build coping skills, or deepen insight into relational dynamics. Adjustments are made along the way based on your needs and feedback. Throughout the process, you can expect a warm, consistent space grounded in care, collaboration, and trust. Therapy is not rushed, and progress is honored in all its forms.
