Getting to know Nick Highland

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* I support adolescents (12+), adults, and parents through a wide range of challenges including life transitions, relationship struggles, grief, stress, and the evolving pressures of today's world. Many teens find me approachable and trustworthy, and I'm passionate about helping them navigate the complexities of growing up in a fast-changing environment. I also work with clients facing midlife career changes, substance use-personally or in families-and those overwhelmed by economic uncertainty or political shifts. I have a special interest in supporting clients in their relationship with religion and spirituality-whether faith is a grounding force or a source of pain. This includes those wrestling with religious-based trauma, especially around gender or sexual identity. I provide a nonjudgmental, compassionate space to explore and heal. My approach is rooted in the belief that we're our best selves when we live in alignment with our values. Together, we'll explore what matters most to you, uncover your strengths, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Therapy offers clarity, empowerment, and hope-and you don't have to navigate it alone. Nickolus Highland has a Master’s in Counseling from Niagara University and has earned his Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor through the Addiction Services and Supports. Nick is a Mental Health Counselor with a Limited Permit, MHC-LP 18-P131410-01 at Cerebral. Supervised by Marta Laurette, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW 085874.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with those facing struggles and seeking patient, compassionate support. Whether navigating challenges, life transitions, or uncertainty, I provide a safe space to explore and grow. I specialize in working with adolescents, as well as individuals, families, and couples, fostering connection, understanding, and growth. Together, we’ll address what’s weighing you down and find a path forward with clarity and hope.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy doesn’t have to be a chore; it can be an uplifting part of your week where you connect, reflect, and recharge. Everyone deserves a space to feel valued and set down the heavy stuff. Together, we’ll celebrate small victories and explore a path forward that feels right for you. Every story has ups and downs, and my goal is to help you embrace yours. We’ll create a safe space to highlight your strengths and re-author the parts that no longer serve you as you write the next chapter of your story.
