Sometimes life is incredibly overwhelming. Maybe you’ve given it your all but life isn’t working out. Or maybe you’re successful overall but miserable inside. Whether you’re struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or burnout, shame and trauma builds up over years of dealing with people who don’t understand. Together we’ll process shame, overcome procrastination, challenge obstacles, and improve what is already empowering you. Understanding how the neurodivergent brain works is essential for making progress. You already have the ability to better your life. We’ll work with what you come into the session with, make a few sarcastic jokes, and leave with a better mindset. I have helped many break free of negative voices and patterns holding them back and regain control of their lives. It’s hard to find a good fit for therapy, so please reach out to see if we can work together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My treatment style is relational and flexible, not stiff. I use a blend of cognitive, behavioral, relational, and existential treatment methods. The neurodivergent brain works differently, and understanding those differences is essential for making changes, managing stress, completing tasks, and adding structure and motivation to daily life. We’ll work with what you come into the session with, probably make a few sarcastic jokes, and leave with a better mindset. I’m also trained in exposure therapy for trauma, social anxiety, phobias, and perfectionism. Finding root causes in the past and obstacles in the present are vital for changing for the future. I believe people inherently want to be better, and there must be something blocking further progress. Untangling whatever is hindering you can help immensely in bettering yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At the start of the session, the first thing we will likely do is check in on if you have any urgent matters that came up and need to be a priority, given how unpredictable a week can be. If not, we will check in on how the last session has impacted you since, and discuss any insights you noticed or progress you have made. I will point out any patterns and themes I notice, and encourage and challenge you when helpful. If you feel homework between sessions will be helpful, we can arrange that. What we do in the session really depends on what does and does not work for you, whether it be examining and challenging thoughts, distancing you from them, focusing on body sensations, practicing mindfulness and other coping skills, or digging into a key childhood memory. Every case needs something different.
