Noah Schmidt

Psychotherapist
111 Westwood Place, Ste 300, Brentwood, TN
I specialize in OCD (Harm OCD), depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach is grounded in evidence-based care while focusing on what matters most to you: making meaning, reconnecting with your values, and finding practical ways to feel more capable and present. I adopt a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that honors both your experiences and your resilience. I bring a calm, open presence and offer reassurance when it feels helpful. My goal is to create an environment that is reflective, practical, and clarifying - one that supports autonomy and self-assurance. I often connect well with people who approach their experiences analytically, feel ambivalent about starting therapy, or work in the mental health field. I have experience in high-acuity settings and balance structure with flexibility to meet you where you are. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and prioritize multicultural competence. If you’re looking for a steady, thoughtful partner as you navigate change, I’m here to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Life can be difficult. Sometimes, it’s a struggle to keep your head above water. If you’re feeling burnt out with the way things are going, you’re not alone. Help is available. With counseling, you can develop tools to reclaim the joy that you’re missing. My goal is for you to leave my office with an actionable plan to move forward and create meaning for yourself. Too often, therapy can seem unapproachable and hard to define. What are we even doing here? I want you to understand what progress looks like and learn how to measure it for yourself. In our sessions, we will work on whatever you deem to be important, whether that’s creating coping skills for anxiety or OCD, processing trauma, working through uncertainty, managing depression symptoms, or navigating grief and loss. As a counselor, I am not here to “fix” you. Rather, I will work to create an environment where you feel empowered to help yourself. You’re already a resilient person, we just need to find a way to get your strengths to work for you. If therapy with me sounds like it could be helpful, don’t hesitate to reach out! I offer free consultations, so we can learn a little more about each other and you can decide if I would be a good fit as your counselor.
