Getting to know Paul Fitzgerald

Choosing to start working with a new therapist can be intimidating, whether it's your first time or you've been in therapy forever. I respect this and strive to make the process of beginning therapy as comfortable as possible from the very first session. I believe the most important part of being human is our ability to empathize with others, and therapy should be a space where we can tell our story and truly feel heard. I am experienced in working with adolescents and adults facing a wide variety of issues and diagnoses. I regularly treat depression, anxiety, PTSD/CPTSD, phobias, OCD, hoarding disorder, bipolar disorder, sexual issues (queer/kink-allied), and ADHD. My primary therapeutic approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and insight-oriented therapy. Therapy is personal for me because I've been on the other side of the couch and experienced firsthand the profound impact a good therapist can make. My hope as a therapist is to sincerely use the knowledge and skills I've gained to provide that same support for my clients. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, and a Bachelor's degree from Queens College, City University of New York.
