Getting to know Paula Bruce

Hello! I’m Paula, a licensed mental health therapist dedicated to helping individuals overcome personal problems and difficulties that weigh them down. I specialize in working with those facing significant mental health issues, relationship problems, and challenges faced by those recovering from addiction, as well as their family members. I also work with clients needing guidance in finding life direction and managing stress. If you are feeling lost, unsure, and stuck, you are not alone. I offer real, open-minded, compassionate support. I’d love to learn more about how I can help you on your journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is a connected client-centered focus to create a safe place for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This environment fosters openness and trust in the therapeutic relationship imperative to successful therapy. Some proven modalities I incorporate in the process are Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to address negative thought patterns and emotional instability. I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, designed to empower people to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance, and capacity for change. I also use Brainspotting and Level III Trauma Training, which offers a unique experience in trauma recovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients often say they feel understood and at ease as I blend honesty, warmth, and a dash of humor to challenge them and support their growth. I know what it is like to feel lost and not know where to turn. I honor the courage it takes to confront the fear you face in asking for help. Clients often comment on the feeling they get when they step into my office. It is a safe sanctuary to truly be yourself, as you leave the crazy, noisy, stressful world outside. Together, we will uncover the critical voice that keeps you stuck in hidden negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs. We will tap into the truth that resonates in you and calls you to move forward on your journey with a deepened sense of self.
