What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I approach therapy with patience, honesty, and respect. I understand that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, so I focus on creating an environment where clients feel heard rather than judged. I tend to balance supportive listening with practical discussion and reflection, helping clients better understand patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while also developing healthier coping strategies. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and am comfortable addressing both everyday stressors and more complex emotional concerns.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first two sessions are usually focused on getting to know the client, understanding their current concerns, background, and any relevant emotional or behavioral patterns. I gather information about symptoms, stressors, relationships, coping skills, and personal history to build a clearer understanding of what the client is experiencing. From there, we collaboratively identify treatment goals and develop an approach that fits the client’s needs. Sessions may include supportive therapy, cognitive and behavioral techniques, emotional processing, mindfulness strategies, or insight-oriented discussion, depending on the client’s presentation and preferences. I also regularly check in regarding progress and adjust treatment goals as needed.
