Getting to know Rachael Drapcho

I believe every person has inherent worth and dignity, and everyone deserves someone who can walk alongside them, listen to them, affirm their stories, and help guide them to living a more fulfilling life. That's why I became a counselor, earning my MEd in Community Counseling from Loyola University Chicago after completing my bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I enter each session with these values in mind. I work with adults, teens, and children who are seeking to collaborate with their counselor to achieve their goals, reduce internal barriers such as low mood and limiting thoughts and behaviors, and learn and practice coping skills.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As your counselor, I could collaborate with you to build awareness of what you’d like in life, uncover steps on how to achieve your goals, practice acceptance of things you can’t control, and help you live an authentic life. I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and people with mood and thought disorders.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use an approach to therapy that puts you in the "driver's seat" of your care. I use a blend of many therapeutic approaches that focus on the whole person and gently guides clients' understanding of thoughts and behaviors that might be making them feel worse or get in the way of their goals.
