“Ranu is amazing, I chose her specifically because she uses humor in her treatment and I love that. She is wonderful and relatable. I’ve been seeing her weekly for a while now and it was a very good decision. She makes our sessions feel leas like therapy and more like just hanging out with a friend. I highly recommend her ”

Getting to know Ranu Aeron

Not your average therapist. Neuro-Affirming Trauma Care, East Coast flair: Licensed in MA & NY Workaholic by choice, dog mama by heart. I’m Ranu Aeron, LICSW & EMDR Trained, offering virtual therapy across Massachusetts and New York. Think of me as your personal mental health GPS, guiding you through the winding roads of life from the comfort of your own couch (or beach, I don’t judge). My Vibe — Not at 5AM. Seriously, unless your emergency involves a rogue squirrel and a strong espresso, let’s aim for a more civilized hour. My dog’s beauty sleep is non-negotiable, and frankly, so is mine. I work seven days a week, fueled by hustle, humor, and Pitbull cuddles. Before we dive into your story, know this: you matter here. This is a space for growth, grace, and the beautifully imperfect work of becoming. So if you’re ready to ditch the drama and embrace your awesome, let’s chat. Just, you know, after 11 AM. I’ve spent 25+ years walking beside humans of all kinds, helping untangle life’s knots. Boston University gave me the credentials; people like you give this work its soul. I’ve sat in psychiatric units, emergency rooms, crisis centers, and outpatient clinics. I’ve held space in the places most people walk past without looking. None of that made me clinical. All of it made me real. Therapy — but make it brutally honest, with a side of dark humor. Buckle up: it’s messy, it’s real, and it’s yours. Trauma’s my lane. EMDR Trained, with a knack for the tough stuff: Autism Spectrum, PANDAS, ADHD, OCD, Tics, anxiety, depression, grief, complex trauma, intergenerational wounds. I don’t do surface-level. I roll deep with immigrant communities, asylum seekers, and refugees — advocacy is in my blood. If it’s complicated, messy, or side-eyed by others, I’m your person. Born in India, fluent in Hindi, with ears tuned to Urdu, Panjabi, and Gujarati. Virtual sessions across MA & NY. Insurance accepted through Headway Platform. Let’s get to work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Not your average therapist! The Details (Because you’ll want to know before you book me — just not at 5 AM) Please complete intake forms first and review my availability. If you skip this step, I’ll find out, and I’ll give you that look. And if you schedule without confirming your insurance or my availability and get charged an administrative fee, you’ll be giving me that look. Existing folks: you already have my number — why are you on ZocDoc right now? Go text me. Top Specialties Neurodivergence, Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, OCD, PANDAS, Tic Disorders & Tourette’s. EMDR-trained clinician providing evidence-based support for PTSD, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, dissociative identity disorder (DID). At 3 AM, if your mind won’t shut up, you’re my people. Stories get honored, heaviness gets lighter, and you’re seen — resilient, tender, fierce, and figuring-it-out. No judgment. Just tools, humor, and room for your beautifully complicated self. New Clients: Quick Intro Fully virtual via Doxy.me, seven days a week — evenings included. Come as you are: chaos, bad WiFi, existential dread, and all. First session is yours — no scripts, no performance. Just show up and be honest. I’ll handle the rest. Credentials (Why You Can Trust Me — Just Not at 5AM) 25+ years deep. EMDR trained. Culturally competent. Fluent in straight talk. I didn’t learn empathy from a textbook — I learned it from living a life that required it. We do real work here. Business Side? Insurances? Most plans accepted. Billing for MA & NY is handled through Headway, which verifies benefits and processes copays and deductibles automatically. Private pay and sliding scale available. If you’re unsure about coverage, ask before you book — surprises belong at birthday parties, not on your bill. ZocDoc? My billboard. Headway? My office manager. Me? The human doing the work that matters. (Still not at 5AM)

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Expert in my field, fluent in sarcasm, and currently middle-management for a blind pitbull who navigates life via vibes and sheer audacity. Here’s how this actually works. Before we meet, I send you a few intake forms through Headway — nothing that requires a therapy degree to fill out. Just enough so I know what’s bringing you in and what you’re hoping for. No trick questions. First session? That’s yours. Tell me the real version — the messy one, the one you’ve been editing for everyone else. We’ll figure out what’s going on, what’s already been tried, and what you actually want to change. I ask direct questions. I don’t do the slow nod and “mmhmm” thing. After that, I put together a plan that’s built around you — not a textbook. I use EMDR, CBT, Polyvagal Theory, attachment-based work, solution-focused approaches, and whatever else fits. If something’s not landing, we switch it up. You’ll always know the game plan. Sessions are 53+ minutes, telehealth only. I work seven days a week because apparently I don’t believe in weekends — but I do believe you deserve better than waiting three weeks for the next opening. I bring over two decades of expertise to the table. My partner in crime, Prince — an 80-pound blind pitbull — brings the emotional support. He’s never read a single DSM and yet somehow gets emotional regulation better than most humans. He snores during sessions. Clients love it. Usually, he’s the one people actually want to consult. Born in India, fluent in Hindi, with ears tuned to Urdu, Panjabi, and Gujarati. I specialize in working with immigrant communities, asylum seekers, refugees, and neurodivergent individuals. If your story is complicated, messy, or side-eyed by others — welcome home. A Note on Insurance — I do not accept all insurances. Panels and coverage details change frequently.

Important Scheduling Policy (Effective 01/01/2026) Let’s save each other time Prior confirmation is required before scheduling any appointment. Clients must confirm administrative and clinical eligibility directly with me before booking to ensure appropriateness of care, licensure jurisdiction compliance, and insurance compatibility. No surprises for you, no surprises for me. That’s how good therapy starts. Appointments scheduled without prior confirmation that are later determined to be administratively or clinically unviable before services are rendered may be subject to an administrative fee for time reserved and professional review completed. Translation: if I’ve blocked time, reviewed your information, and prepared for your session — that work happened whether or not we meet. Insurance & Payment Information I accept insurance through the Headway platform — but I do not accept all insurances. If your plan isn’t one I’m paneled with, I’m not playing hard to get. It just means the paperwork gods didn’t align in our favor. Headway verifies benefits and eligibility before your first appointment, so once registered, both you and I will know exactly what your copay, coinsurance, or deductible looks like. No mystery charges. No awkward billing conversations three months later. Private pay is also welcome. I like transparency almost as much as I like good clinical outcomes. For the most accurate insurance information, I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card — the people who answer that phone literally exist for this purpose. Your insurance company will always have the final word on your specific benefits. A Note on Fit Not every therapist is the right therapist for every person — and that’s not a rejection, it’s a feature. If we’re a good match, wonderful. If not, I’d rather we both know early so you can find the right support without delay. Thank you for your understanding and your excellent taste in therapists.

Ranu is a wonderful human, and a phenomenal therapist! I’ve been seeing her for over a year now and have zero plans to stop seeing her! She is kind, a safe space, and an extremely empathetic person. She offers practical solutions and has helped me work through a lot. It’s very evident that she wants the best for her clients and she will always go above and beyond for them. I recommend Ranu highly!!
Ranu has been amazing. She really listen, provide thoughtful guidance, and make me feel supported every step of the way. I always leave sessions feeling better and more hopeful.
One of the best therapists I've been to in a long time, I've been seeing theraists since I was 12/13. She's honest with me and gives me advice when I need it! She's an absolute sweetheart and I always look forward to our sessions!
There’s very few people who really care about their clients the way Ranu does. She cares deeply and truly values her time with you. Sometimes her goal is to dig deep into your thoughts. Other times, her goal is simply to put a smile on your face. No matter what brings you into her room, she welcomes you with open arms and does her best to support you. She’s always so good at reading my energy and understanding the words that don’t always come out. In fact, I often find myself looking forward to our sessions because I just know I’ll come out better then when I walked in. I really do appreciate how much time and effort she puts into her sessions with me. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone who asks!
Ranu is an amazing therapist! She always makes herself available to her clients. She really cares about what she does and that is clear by the effort she puts in each and every day. I would recommend Ranu as a therapist again again and again!
She is a great in her work. A very good listener and gives such an advice which is practical. Very punctual and always helping and accommodating.
I’m currently seeing Ranu Aeron, LICSW, and she has been such an important part of my progress. She makes me feel heard the way a friend would, while also giving me solutions and guidance as a professional. With her support, I was able to come out of a depressive episode last year, and I continue to feel stronger each week. I genuinely look forward to our sessions—they’ve become my dedicated “me time.” I’m very grateful for her care and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and effective therapist.
