Rebecca Rosen, MA

Rebecca Rosen, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
I’m a New York-based mental health counselor who works primarily with young adults navigating anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationships, identity, emotional regulation, and major life transitions. I’m especially drawn to the moments in life when people feel like they are in-between versions of themselves: outgrowing old patterns, trying to understand what keeps repeating, or figuring out what they want their life and relationships to look like next. My work is rooted in psychodynamic and person-centered therapy, with CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and other evidence-based tools integrated when they are useful. I care deeply about creating therapy that feels warm, thoughtful, honest, and genuinely human. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move through the world with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.

Getting to know Rebecca Rosen

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, conversational, direct, and deeply relational. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can exhale and be fully yourself, while also knowing that we are here to do meaningful work together. I am not a therapist who simply sits back and nods. I will listen closely, ask questions, reflect patterns I notice, and gently challenge you when I think there is something worth looking at more deeply. At the same time, I believe you are the expert on your own life, so our work is collaborative rather than prescriptive. You do not need to show up with the perfect words or even know exactly what you want to talk about. We can figure that out together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are about getting to know you as a whole person, not reducing you to a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what is happening in your life now, your relationships and history, the patterns you have noticed, and what you hope might feel different through our work together. From there, sessions are primarily talk therapy and tend to be conversational and collaborative. Some days we may spend time understanding how earlier experiences are showing up in the present. Other days we may focus on something happening right now, work through a difficult relationship or decision, or use more concrete tools from CBT, DBT, ACT, or mindfulness. There is no one-size-fits-all formula. I tailor the work to the person in front of me, with the goal of creating enough safety and trust for us to be curious, honest, and intentional about meaningful change.
