Renee Walker, LPC

Psychotherapist
AZ
Hello, I'm Renee. I grew up in the lush rural countryside of Minnesota and moved to Arizona in 1982. After exploring my youth and this beautiful state for several years, I settled down with a career in respiratory therapy. For 26 years, I worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, where I met my soulmate and husband while working together in the trenches of Intensive Care at a large trauma hospital. I am blessed with three amazing stepsons and their partners, and six beautiful grandchildren. My fascination with psychology began at the age of 16. For many years, I thought it was to my detriment that I did not attend college right out of high school to pursue this passion. However, I have come to realize that the “education” I received through life experiences has enriched my understanding of the human condition, with all its attending challenges, growth, and amazing capacity to heal. Urged on by the belief that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, I made a major career change after those 26 years as a medical professional and completed my master’s degree with honors in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix in 2017. My counseling career began in a residential substance abuse treatment center, working with individuals, groups, and families struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and trauma. I have been dedicated to helping clients release suffering and realize their full potential ever since. I have a true heart for uprooting maladaptive core beliefs that keep us trapped in habitual patterns of distress and for treating the manifestations of trauma that affect our relationships to self and others.
