Getting to know Robert Scheer
I’m a licensed mental health counselor who has worked in the addictions field for many years, treating those with substance use and gambling disorders. I also have experience treating individuals and groups for a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and trauma. I believe in providing evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, MI, and mindfulness to help you understand and address the underlying causes of your gambling issues and establish new healthy behaviors and routines. We will collaborate on developing and implementing a treatment plan that will include a focus on relapse prevention. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your behaviors, emotions, and thoughts using a collaborative, solution-focused approach. This approach also identifies and supports your inherent strengths and resiliency as we work together to affect meaningful change.
I moved to the capital district in 2020 and enjoy hiking, biking, and being outdoors. I also enjoy traveling to explore new places and cultures.
