I am a dedicated licensed professional counselor specializing in trauma-informed care, with a profound commitment to supporting first responders and veterans. With over 18 years of experience as a law enforcement officer and firefighter/EMT, and 10+ years of experience directly working in the mental health field, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals who serve the front lines of crises. I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento, and my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts. I volunteer with first responders organizations (C.O.P.S. & FRSN.org). I network in multiple therapist groups focused on providing care to first responders and veterans. I participate in trainings specific to the needs of first responders and veterans. Ongoing advocacy in these groups is important to the communities served. I am certified in Brainspotting to treat trauma. I primarily utilize CBT and ACT interventions in sessions, however I am a client centered practitioner and can adjust to meet the needs of each client regarding effective intervention techniques. My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, cultural competency, evidence-based practices, and ensuring you feel heard and understood. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
