Getting to know Sarah Rafik Botrus

Creative professionals often carry the weight of overwhelming demands and emotional paralysis. You may feel trapped in cycles of perfectionism and self-doubt, sensing a gap between your vision and your current reality. Instead of feeling energized by your creativity, disconnection and numbness may have taken over, with joy and satisfaction seeming just out of reach. I understand how isolating and painful this journey can be, and I'm here to work with you to restore a sense of control, balance, and fulfillment. Specializing in supporting creative minds, I help clients navigate unique challenges-tackling overwhelm, perfectionism, depression, and feelings of inadequacy to rediscover joy and purpose. Together, we'll explore the unconscious beliefs that may contribute to current struggles, examining past experiences and narratives that shape your mindset. Through insight and self-awareness, we'll address underlying anxiety and depression, reframing thought patterns that may be holding you back. My goal is to support you in building a life filled with satisfaction, meaningful connections, and creative expression. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, which inform my compassionate and holistic approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I view therapy as a meaningful and impactful relationship between client and therapist. My goal is to establish a close, trustworthy connection that creates a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore difficult emotions and experiences freely. I am here to listen, support, and understand you as we navigate the layers of your personal story together. In our work, I bring a deep awareness that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are often shaped by unconscious beliefs and early childhood experiences. By examining these underlying influences, we can uncover patterns that may be affecting your present life. This process allows for genuine insight and healing, empowering you to make meaningful changes. I’m committed to a collaborative, compassionate approach that honors your unique needs and strengths. You’ll find that our sessions provide a space to be yourself, discover new perspectives, and feel supported as we work toward greater self-awareness, fulfillment, and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my therapeutic process, I offer a space that is curious, collaborative, warm, and even fun when appropriate. I believe that healing and growth are enhanced when clients feel understood and comfortable exploring deeper parts of themselves. Together, we’ll engage in a process that values self-discovery and insight, inviting you to examine patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to your current challenges. Through our work, we’ll look at the interplay between past experiences and present emotions, allowing you to gain new perspectives and greater self-compassion. My background in both creative and therapeutic fields uniquely informs my approach. I hold a B.A. in Film and Television from UCLA and an M.S. in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. With this dual foundation, I bring a creative and experiential lens to therapy, blending traditional therapeutic techniques with an understanding of the challenges faced by creative professionals. This allows me to connect deeply with clients who experience the pressures of perfectionism, self-doubt, and the desire for meaningful work. My goal is to support you in reclaiming a sense of joy and fulfillment, empowering you to build a more balanced and satisfying life. Each session is designed to feel like a collaborative exploration, tailored to your unique needs and strengths, with a focus on practical steps toward long-lasting change.
