Getting to know Shamia Clark

Hello! I am here to help clients process trauma of all sorts whether that be historical, generational, cultural or social. I am accepting of clients of diverse multicultural backgrounds whether that be race, sex/ gender, or identity and look forward to helping clients process and progress into the best versions of themselves overtime. Ultimately I would like to work with an adult population, and have vast amounts of experience in being a human - thankfully- which puts me in a posiiton to connect with individuals from all walks of life The main theoretical orientations that I align with is person- centered, existentialism, and social learning theory. This is all a fancy way of saying that I emphasize client- clinican connection, I value individuals goals to pursue meaning and value of life, and I believe that alot of the decisions that we make have been based off of the things that we have learned overtime. Although these are my main therapeutic alignments, I also implore very heavily CBT, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, as well as art therapy. Ultimately, I want to connect with clients based on where they are in life and essentially want potential clients to be aware that I have alot of tools in my theoretical toolbox to help them reach the full potential of who they were always meant to be. Proudly I can say Iam a first generation college student who, ever since I could remember has had a passion for doing therapy and helping others. This is more than just a job for me, this is a way of life. I got my Bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State University and went on to the Unversity of Baltimore to receive my Master’s degree in psychology
