Getting to know Shaneka Nixon
I am a provisionally licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. I graduated from Long Island University with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and am also a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I currently focus on working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, family discord, low self-esteem, romantic relationship concerns, as well as those with a substance abuse history or who have been impacted by substance abuse. I use empathic listening skills to work alongside clients in addressing solutions to varying issues. I also work with auxiliary members of the Christian community as well as the BIPOC population.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Ms. Nixon will work with in collaborative manner to develop a plan that best meets your needs.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Shaneka works under the supervision of Silvia Torres, LMHC-D, NCC, Founding Clinician at Torres Mental Health Counseling Services, PLLC.
You will receive a confirmation email from our office once your booking is confirmed. We have some preliminary documentation for you to complete within the ZocDoc system. However, due to varying needs, you will receive a link from our office to complete any additional forms. We ask that you complete all forms prior to your appointment so that we can be best prepared to assist you.
An intake appointment is an information-gathering session designed to assess whether our practice is an appropriate level of care and to evaluate for any risk factors.
Following the intake, you will be scheduled for a recurring appointment on specific days and times that work for you.
