Psychotherapist

The provider is a “Provisional Professional Counselor" and is currently working under the supervision of Lyndsey Burton. Stephanie grew up in Gillette, Wyoming. After graduating high school, life took her on a unique and memorable journey—from Laramie to Chicago to pursue dance professionally, then west to Spearfish, South Dakota, to start her family. After a brief stay in Denver and a move to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to support her husband’s firefighting career, Stephanie and her family finally settled in Sundance, Wyoming, to lay down lasting roots. She is deeply grateful for her upbringing, where her parents instilled a strong work ethic and an appreciation for history—believing that understanding one’s past and ancestors helps shape a meaningful future. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College. She is currently a Provisional Professional Counselor working toward full licensure. During her internship with the Crook County School District, Stephanie found working with children and teenagers especially rewarding. Witnessing their growth and helping implement mental health awareness and social-emotional learning left a lasting impression. After graduation, she transitioned to community mental health, working with a wide range of clients and concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. Stephanie values creating genuine connections and empowering clients to work toward their own version of “better.” Her therapeutic approach is flexible and client-centered, drawing from DBT, Internal Family Systems, Reality Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes therapy is never one-size-fits-all and takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and authentic space.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Stephanie believes that therapy should not be one size fits all. Here, she pulls techniques and skills from theories such as DBT, Internal Family Systems, Reality Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Stephanie firmly believes that no matter the age, we all can learn.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Stephanie works from a non-judgmental stance walking alongside teens, young adults, and even adults making big shifts in their own lives. Her experiences in the arts, marriage and motherhood has provided her with a deep desire to help others grow. To create a safe space to foster positive change has been rewarding but mostly, helping clients see their most genuine and authentic self takes front and center.
