Getting to know Stephany John

I am a licensed therapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate emotional challenges, improve communication, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive, with an emphasis on creating a safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment. I integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel both hopeful and intimidating. My goal is to make the process feel grounded and approachable from the very beginning. Clients can expect a supportive, honest, and engaged therapeutic relationship where we move at a pace that feels comfortable. I value transparency, collaboration, and real conversation—therapy with me is not about “fixing” you, but about understanding patterns, deepening self-awareness, and creating meaningful change. I also encourage clients to actively participate in sessions so we can work together toward your goals in a way that feels practical and sustainable in everyday life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with an initial intake session where I learn more about your concerns, history, and what brings you to therapy. Together, we identify your goals and what you hope to get out of our work. From there, sessions typically follow a structured yet flexible flow. I often integrate relational, attachment-based, and systems-informed approaches, depending on your needs. We focus on identifying patterns, exploring underlying emotions, and building tools you can use outside of sessions. Throughout our work, we regularly check in on progress and adjust our focus as needed. Some clients prefer short-term, solution-focused work, while others engage in longer-term deeper exploration—both are welcome and supported.
