Getting to know Steven Zamora-Romero

Steven Zamora-Romero, M.S., MHC-LP, is a New York State Mental Health Counselor (LP) who has joined the clinical team at Dr. Fallon’s Practice and we are thrilled to have him on board! Steven holds a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s in Psychology & Neuroscience from Queens College. He has worked with adults navigating PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, sexual trauma, body image issues, and both athletic and sexual performance challenges. Steven’s goal is for therapy to become more than a place to unload—he wants it to be a space where clients build lasting insight, self-trust, and resilience. Ideally, it becomes the hour of the week when someone thinks, “I can’t wait to tell my therapist this!”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Steven Zamora-Romero is an Army veteran whose passion for working with clients who struggle with trauma and PTSD is rooted in personal experience. He understands how difficult it can be to carry pain silently—and how powerful it is to feel truly heard. That’s why his priority in therapy is to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and never judged. He recognizes how trauma affects both the mind and the body, and he tailors the therapeutic process at a pace that feels safe and manageable for each client. As a person of color, Steven brings a deep awareness of how cultural identity, systemic stress, and social expectations shape mental health. He meets each client with openness and respect, taking care to honor their lived experience and background.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Steven’s style is warm, authentic, and down-to-earth. He believes healing can (and sometimes should) include humor. Therapy with him is a collaborative effort—not in name only, but in practice. He partners with clients to find what actually fits, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices.
