Taiwan Piles, LPC

Taiwan Piles, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am a licensed professional counselor who provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy for individuals navigating emotional stress, overwhelm, life transitions, and the long-term impact of difficult experiences. Many of the people I work with feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, even when they appear high-functioning on the outside. My approach recognizes that emotional distress does not exist in isolation and is often shaped by personal history, relationships, cultural context, and ongoing life demands. I believe therapy should feel grounding, supportive, and practical. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or labels, I work collaboratively with clients to understand what their experiences mean and how those experiences show up emotionally, mentally, and physically. I integrate evidence-based practices with a holistic perspective that honors the whole person. My goal is to help clients build insight, emotional awareness, and sustainable coping tools while creating space for healing that feels safe and respectful. Therapy is not about fixing you. It is about helping you reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of stability.

Getting to know Taiwan Piles

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means entering a space where you are not rushed, judged, or expected to have everything figured out. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if this is your first experience or if past support has felt unhelpful. Sessions are paced intentionally and shaped around your comfort level, with an emphasis on safety, trust, and collaboration. You are always invited to ask questions and share feedback about what feels helpful or challenging. My style is warm, attentive, and honest. I support clients in exploring emotions, patterns, and stressors while also focusing on practical tools that can be used outside of sessions. We may talk about relationships, boundaries, identity, stress, or past experiences that continue to influence your present life. I approach therapy with cultural humility and an awareness of how trauma and systemic pressures can impact emotional well-being. You do not need to minimize your experiences or explain why something feels heavy. My role is to meet you where you are and support meaningful, steady progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. We discuss current concerns, relevant personal history, and how stress or emotional challenges are affecting your daily life. This session also provides time to talk about expectations, answer questions, and ensure that therapy feels like a good fit. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and you remain in control of what you choose to explore. Ongoing sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. Therapy may include conversation, emotional processing, skill-building, and strategies to support regulation, self-awareness, and healthier coping. We work together to identify goals that feel realistic and meaningful, and we revisit those goals as your needs change. Progress is viewed as a process rather than a quick fix. Over time, therapy aims to help you feel more grounded, emotionally balanced, and equipped to navigate life with greater clarity and confidence.
