Getting to know Teresa Guzman

Hi, I’m Teresa, a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience walking alongside individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments. Whether you’re working through trauma, feeling stuck in your relationships, or trying to rebuild your life after loss or adversity, I offer a safe, supportive space where healing and growth can happen at your pace. I’ve spent much of my career supporting youth and adults from underserved communities, including those impacted by homelessness, human trafficking, and the juvenile justice system. These experiences have shaped my deep belief that everyone deserves compassion, dignity, and the chance to rewrite their story. In my therapy work, I specialize in helping people manage trauma, strengthen family bonds, and develop healthier ways of coping with stress and emotion. I primarily use trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices tailored to each person’s unique goals. I work best with clients who are ready to be heard, challenged, and empowered and I’m right there beside you every step of the way. I hold master’s degrees in both Social Work and Criminal Justice and am currently finishing my doctorate in Social Work. In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as an adjunct professor within the School of Social Work as I enjoy mentoring future social workers. Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me pushing myself in the gym weightlifting and spending time with my two rescue pups.
