Getting to know Teresa Longo

Life can be stressful, offering various turns and detours that are often unexpected. We can never underestimate the impact emotions have on our lives. My name is Teresa Longo, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 20 years of experience helping individuals navigate their life journey. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the City University of New York, Queens, and a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, Oneonta. I seek to offer a comfortable, safe place where you can heal while gaining insight into the road behind and the one ahead. “To get through the hardest journey we need only to take one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping.” – Chinese Proverb My approach I utilize various modalities including EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, and motivational interviewing to assist you in making crooked paths straight. I am committed to helping people gain greater understanding and control over self-defeating behavior patterns. I choose an eclectic approach because everyone is unique, and flexibility is key. My toolbox includes CBT, EMDR, Humanistic, Spiritual, and more. CBT helps identify constructive and destructive thinking patterns. EMDR examines how past traumas impact present functioning. Discover and recover! My focus I work with clients struggling with depression and anxiety. We file information in our minds uniquely. These brain files, created early in life, hold both pleasant and traumatic experiences. Our goal is to uncover malware—destructive patterns—and reboot with constructive routing that promotes healing the wounds that bind us. My communication style I aim to create a safe, caring space where you can bring your authentic self to gain insight into behavior patterns. In your self-exploration, you will find me attentive and caring, sometimes offering humor, as a laugh relaxes a heavy heart. My goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
