What should a new client know about working with you?

After a career in business, working as a civil servant (military), I went back to school to gain another set of skills and pursued additional degrees in psychology, counseling and higher education, where I gained foundational knowledge about mental health theories, therapeutic techniques, and human behavior. But beyond academics, it is my life experiences coupled with through internships, supervised clinical work, and volunteering—that really shaped my approaches. Working with diverse populations taught me the importance of empathy, active listening, and meeting people where they are and helping them getting to where they want to be in life. This have helped me grow into a compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective mental health provider.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The types of clients that I work with are people who are ready to get unstuck. It is not easy to come in and sit in front of someone and tell basically your life story with hopes to get the support to help you move through the process. I work with clients who have trauma from their childhood, workplace struggles, middle age individuals who are saying "what's next", and much more. I prefer clients who are committed to understanding that progress is in the process and it will take work. Therapy is not an overnight, get well right now quick system. It will take time. I am direct, professional, straight forward, and will help those who will not give up when it gets tough. I say to clients, "therapy starts from the first session, let's go." Being a good mental health provider means committing to lifelong learning. Mental health is a dynamic field, and I continuously seek out professional development opportunities, attend workshops, and stay updated on the latest research. This ensures I’m providing the most effective and culturally appropriate care. Some of the training I have acquired over the years have been Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy approaches. "Learn to Serve" Lastly, I’ve learned the importance of self-awareness and self-care. To support others effectively, I need to maintain my own mental health and recognize my own biases and limitations
