“Over the years, after difficult experiences with many therapists, I had nearly lost hope of finding someone I could genuinely trust and connect with. But meeting Veronika Adlerstein has made every bit of that journey worthwhile. As a therapist myself, I deeply appreciate her highly skilled, thoughtful approach, and I’m truly grateful to have her in my life. She’s very intelligent, and her insights make each session feel meaningful and thought-provoking. What stands out most is Veronika’s ability to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space. No matter what I share, I feel completely accepted. She’s insightful and curious, never pushy or imposing. Sometimes she’s even mildly confrontational. Not harsh at all, just thoughtfully inquisitive. She truly listens, and when she asks me to clarify or think more deeply, it’s because she genuinely wants to understand and help me explore what’s beneath the surface. I find this work incredibly stimulating. It’s so clear that understanding me matters deeply to Veronika. Unlike other therapists who simply ask, “And how did that make you feel?” in a detached and lethargic way, she’s fully engaged. She’s warm, present, and truly alive in our conversations. Her office is beautiful, clean, comfortable, and soothing, and I love the artwork and how thoughtfully she’s decorated it. I also appreciate that Veronika brings experiences beyond Long Island into her practice. She speaks several languages and is genuinely curious about different cultures. And she has a wonderful sense of humor! Even though sessions are often challenging, I almost always find myself laughing or smiling at moments during our time together. Thanks to her, I feel like I’m slowly getting my life back. Veronika isn’t driven by business interests but by a deep commitment to the well-being of the person across from her. Although I haven’t needed her sliding scale option, I value that she offers it, as it shows her commitment to being accessible to clients from all walks of life. For anyone considering reaching out, I highly recommend it. She’s willing to meet you where you are; that’s been my impression. If she was able to help me, I believe she can help you too.”

Getting to know Veronika Adlerstein

I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's in Social Work from the Touro College and University System, and I truly believe that emotional wellness is the foundation of a balanced and fulfilling life. I also hold a Master's in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, a Bachelor's degree from Lund University, and have completed training in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy at Adelphi University. In my practice, I support clients through life's many challenges-whether it's managing depression, anxiety, navigating difficult transitions, making tough decisions, or dealing with relationship issues, loss, or chronic pain. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy, person-centered therapy, and psychoanalytic methods-always adapting to what feels most helpful for you. I believe that the relationship between psychotherapist and client is at the heart of meaningful change. No specific technique can replace the trust and connection we build together. It's within that relationship that real progress happens. My role isn't to provide the answers but to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and heard-so that, together, we can explore your life, challenges, and strengths. Psychotherapy is about easing the emotional weight we carry and getting to the root of what's causing it. I believe we all have the answers within us, but life's challenges can cloud our ability to access them. If I can sit with you in those tough moments and hold space for your feelings, my hope is that, over time, you'll feel more equipped to manage and understand your emotions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I speak fluent English, Swedish, and Polish, with a basic understanding of Hebrew. Working with people from diverse backgrounds is something I deeply value; it enriches my practice and helps me grow alongside my clients.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Ultimately, my goal is for you to leave psychotherapy with a clearer sense of self, feeling more grounded, hopeful, and connected to who you truly are. Together, we’ll work toward helping you live a life that feels authentic and aligned with your values. It’s not just about feeling better. It’s about gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world, so that you can live in a way that feels true to who you are.

There is so much I can say when describing my experience with Veronika. For anyone seeking a compassionate, insightful, and culturally sensitive psychotherapist, I highly recommend Veronika. She truly cares about your progress and never makes you feel inferior or judged. She laughs with you, and she cries with you. She’s genuine, funny, and full of wisdom. Veronika brings a unique authenticity to her work, and her warm, empathetic personality can make all the difference in building a trusting therapeutic relationship. She’s professional, yet she’s unique and witty, balancing expertise with a relatable, down-to-earth approach. If you’re looking for a therapist who listens deeply, respects your individual experiences, and genuinely cares about your well-being, Veronika is the person to reach out to. She’s down to earth, incredibly funny, warm, and personable. Her multicultural background shines through her personality without ever interfering in her professional role. Her office, located in Long Island, is beautifully decorated and easy to access with plenty of parking. Veronika genuinely cares about her clients’ well-being, not about how much she can profit from their struggles. This country would look completely different if all mental health professionals were like Veronika. It’s truly a blessing to have her in my life.

A while back, I found myself in a very difficult spot and felt absolutely helpless. When I started seeing Veronika, however, I knew things were going to turn around. From the first time we spoke over the phone, I could tell that Veronika was understanding, empathetic, and knowledgeable. These qualities were on full display when I began seeing her. In our sessions, Veronika listens without judgement and offers solutions based on her background knowledge and expertise. She creates an environment that is comforting and reassuring. I was amazed by how quickly I began seeing improvements in my life after I began seeing Veronika. She encouraged me to make non only concrete changes in my life, but also helped me to change my perspective, all at my own pace . I cannot say enough positive things about her. I recommend her 100%.
Love here and she is caring and professional ??

Finding the right therapist can be an overwhelming process, especially when seeking help to address childhood trauma, such as emotional neglect and verbal abuse. However, I consider myself fortunate to have crossed paths with Veronika who has been an invaluable guide and source of support on my healing journey. From our very first session, Veronika demonstrated a remarkable level of compassion, empathy, and understanding. She creates a safe space where I feel comfortable sharing my deepest vulnerabilities. Her genuine concern for my well-being and her commitment is evident in every session. Today, I am immensely grateful for the transformative journey I embarked on with Veronika. Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to her clients make her an exceptional practitioner in the field of psychotherapy. Trusting her with my healing journey has been a decision I will forever be grateful for.

i was very fearful of finding someone to talk to. Would they care? Would they think I'm crazy? Veronika made this an easy decision for me. She asks questions and adapts to give an experience that feels tailored to my specific needs. Seeing that Veronika works on a sliding scale comforted me with the notion that she's here to help her clients not just to make money. After attending her session i felt at ease and less overwhelmed. Veronika is professional, respectful, accessible, affirming, gentle but firm. Most importantly, to me, Veronika gives different perspectives so I still take the lead in the decision making for my life. This makes me more socially aware and capable to maneuver through life struggles without feeling like I'm lost without her. I feel heard, seen without judgment, and micromanaging demand. Veronika creates a safe space to grow as an individual that aids in me being confident and prouder of who I'm becoming. She will be my therapist long term and I’m thankful.
I’ve been looking for a therapist for a long time. I’ve met with a few, but I never “clicked” with any of them. I immediately felt comfortable in Veronika’s presence; she made me feel relaxed despite my initial nervousness. Veronika has a very charming demeanor; her upfront personality in which she doesn’t try to pretend to be perfect is transparent with humanness and a genuine interest for others. Veronika is a great listener and she has an unpretentious but yet a highly analytical mind. I feel that I have finally found a therapist that will work for me. Veronika seems like the real deal. She is unpretentious, but very intelligent. It’s obvious that she loves her work and that she cares about her clients. She is kind, warm and she is funny too. I’m looking forward to working with her!

I had a great initial experience in my therapy appointment with Veronika Adlerstein and recommend her to anyone who is struggling with any kind of issue. It has been a looong time since I have gone to a therapist and I was feeling some anxiety about starting over with a new one...telling a stranger about my problems is not something that comes easily. The thing about Veronika is she didn't feel like a stranger - I felt comfortable with her immediately and she really put me at ease. She is friendly, empathetic and a really, really good listener. I felt like I was really able to express myself in a safe setting with someone who wasn't giving knee jerk reactions to things, but was carefully reflecting on them to understand what is going on under the surface. I look forward to continuing my therapy journey with her. PS - would also like to add that Veronika's office itself was really nice (this may not matter to everyone, but it does to me...warm and comfortable atmosphere).

I have been searching for a therapist for some time. Ive found smart ones, well referred ones but I couldn't find one that truly cared up to meeting Veronika Adlerstein, The sudden and welcoming guidance in helping me to see what I refused to see or just plainly didn't notice, To open your inner fears to someone you trust, is going to listen and help, is so rewarding. I don't know your problems, your demons, your fears, or what brings you to look for therapy. What I do know is that Mrs Adlerstein cares about her patients and will do all that is possible to bring them some inner peace Thank you so much for all you have done so far Veronika Looking forward to my next session

I finally feel like I found a therapist who actually cares & gives me the time I need to discuss my problems. Veronika was very attentive & helpful. I appreciate all the advice she provided & the time she took to meet with me. I will definitely continue to see Veronika since I feel I will actually make progress with my treatment for the first time in a long time.

She is a wonderful person, very talkative and will help you understand yourself better. She’s a great listener and you can feel how much she truly cares when she speaks to you. She truly is looking to help you and I sometimes with the sessions were longer just because you don’t realize how fast the minutes go by actually finding someone to open up with. Will be going back to her and continuing because of how wonderful she truly is

I was very please with speaking with Ms. Alderstein. She has such a caring (yet professional) demeanor, and I felt very comfortable speaking with her about all of my concerns.
I have seen many therapists before but none come close to the experience I had with Veronika. When I first spoke with Veronika I immediately knew she was different and this was the therapist for me. She genuninely cares, understands and most of all LISTENS. she is extremely attentive and has really helped me battle my anxiety as Im going through a divorce and thanks to her help Im a new person and Ive begun to heal. What I love most about Veronika is that she genuinely cares about her clients. Youre not going to have one of those sessions where they ask you " so tell me how you feel" because you will WANT to tell her. She has given me the tools necessary to combat my anxiety and has given me my life back! She is brilliant!
