What should a new client know about working with you?

Please read: Upon booking, our office will contact you to walk through the next steps for your appointment. Please note that we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare at this time. Your first session is a calm, structured conversation. We’ll clarify what brings you in, what relief would look like, and what feels realistic right now. You set the pace—share only what you’re ready to share. My style is warm, collaborative, and gently direct. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer practical tools. I blend Person-Centered and Existential therapy with skills from CBT and Solution-Focused work. We may use mindfulness or creative journaling when it fits. Between sessions, I’ll sometimes suggest brief practices so progress doesn’t stay in the therapy room. We’ll define clear goals and check in on what’s working every few weeks. If something isn’t helpful, we adjust. I’m attentive to culture, family roles, school/work demands, and the realities of parenting. When I work with children or teens, I collaborate with caregivers as appropriate while protecting the young person’s privacy. Expect a space that is respectful, non-judgmental, and focused on building resilience, insight, and concrete coping skills. I provide care in English and Spanish.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with a calm, focused intake where we clarify what hurts, what you want to feel instead, and how we’ll know therapy is helping. I explain confidentiality and we decide together if the fit is right. From there we set two or three concrete goals and a simple plan. Sessions blend Person-Centered presence, Existential meaning-making, CBT skills, and Solution-Focused steps. Expect a brief check-in, a shared agenda, targeted work on patterns, and a practical take-home experiment—often mindfulness, thought reframes, communication practice, routine design, or creative journaling. Every few weeks we pause to measure progress and adjust what isn’t working; with your written permission I can coordinate with schools or medical providers. When goals are met, we taper, create a maintenance plan, and schedule booster sessions as needed. With children and teens, caregivers are involved at the start and for periodic updates while the young person’s privacy is respected. Care available in English and Spanish.
