Getting to know Yosef Rivkin

I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity transitions, and complex family dynamics. Many of my clients come from high-demand environments and are seeking to live in a way that feels more authentic, connected, and self-directed. My style is collaborative and depth-oriented. I integrate psychodynamic insight with IFS, DBT, and trauma-informed care, tailoring my approach to what each client is ready for and most likely to benefit from. I believe therapy should provide space to explore what's driving your distress, build emotional perspective, and shift long-standing patterns that no longer serve you. Trauma-informed work, to me, means honoring the uniqueness of your lived experience and understanding how your history, social identities, and personal relationships shape the way you relate to the world. I aim to foster a space that supports self-reflection and helps you develop a grounded and accurate sense of self. Clients who do well with me are often motivated by a desire to feel seen and understood. They may be first-generation professionals, LGBTQ+ adults, or adult children of emotionally immature parents -- people who have known care in their lives but want to deepen their sense of clarity, confidence, and connection. Therapy with me is relational and reflective. I try to meet you with curiosity and respect, allowing the therapeutic relationship to unfold without unnecessary self-disclosure while staying grounded in genuine presence. Whether in person or via telehealth, my goal is to offer a thoughtful, consistent space where growth feels both possible and real. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College and a Master's in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, which inform my integrative and client-centered approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, curious, and grounded. I integrate psychodynamic therapy, DBT, IFS, and trauma-informed care to meet you where you are. I listen closely, reflect openly, and gently challenge the patterns that may be holding you back. Therapy with me is collaborative and relational, focused on growth that feels sustainable and real.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our sessions, we’ll explore what’s happening in your life and uncover the deeper patterns beneath it. I ask thoughtful questions, reflect what I hear, and help you make sense of your emotions and relationships. Together, we’ll build insight and tools to support lasting change, pacing the work to your needs and readiness.
