What should a new client know about working with you?

A new client should know that my approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are, without fear of judgment. I take time to understand your experiences, cultural background, relationships, and the challenges that have shaped where you are today. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally responsive, and I tailor treatment to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we may explore patterns, build practical coping skills, strengthen emotional awareness, and work toward meaningful changes that support your overall well-being. I also understand that beginning therapy can feel uncomfortable or vulnerable. You do not have to have everything figured out before you start. We will move at a pace that feels manageable while creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and collaboration.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you as a whole person—not just the symptoms or challenges that brought you to therapy. During our first few sessions, we will explore your current concerns, personal history, strengths, cultural background, relationships, and the goals you would like to work toward. From there, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your goals, I may incorporate trauma-informed care, EMDR, cognitive and behavioral strategies, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and other evidence-based approaches. I also believe in helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and present-day patterns. Throughout therapy, we will regularly check in on your progress and adjust our approach as needed. My goal is not only to help you work through current challenges, but also to help you develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and practical tools that you can continue using outside of therapy.
