A Virginian for most of his life, Dr. Barmas-Alamdari completed his ophthalmology residency at Northwell Health, where he served as chief resident, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. He has published research on various topics, including intravitreal retinal injections, selective laser trabeculoplasty, micropulse laser trabeculoplasty and ocular candidiasis management in a hospital setting, as well as a book chapter on retinal biosimilars. He served as an Advocacy Ambassador in Washington D.C. for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and currently holds active memberships in the New York State Ophthalmological Society, as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Barmas-Alamdari is married to his lovely wife Maham, and they have two cats. They enjoy eating and cooking cuisines from different cultures, travelling together on long road trips, and watching the latest movies on the big screen. They live together in New York City, enjoying walks along the river.
